What is this bug? Pictures

I have been thoroughly investigating my coop to try to find the cause of my balding chickens. I have gone out into the roost at night to investigate mites, and I have not found any. I have looked for lice on each of my birds.

Today, I found 4 of these dead bugs in the pine shavings. Can you tell me what these are?

On a napkin with a toothpick for a size comparison:

Looks like a fly pupa of some sort. See any maggots or flies about?

We always have flies around. I haven't seen any maggots though. Not mites though?

Maggot will be in the moister locations, Larvae crawl to drier locations immediately prior to pupating. Keep the pupae in a jar and see what kind of flies emerge.

Too big for mites and mites are essentially ticks that do not produce pupae.
