What is this bug?

I was lifting a pullet onto the roost and noticed this bug on me afterwards. I think it's a louse. I can't seem to squash it. I have video of it if you need it. It was still squirming on the tape.

If so then treat the coop and birds with pyrethrin, yes?

From your picture it appears to be lice. I use Permethrin which is the synthetic version and it works. Permethrin is my go to product for mites and lice. Also there is no egg withdrawal period. Most poultry dusts have permethrin as their active ingredient which I use in the nest boxes. You do need to do repeat treatments weekly for 3 or 4 weeks because it does not kill the pests eggs, available at TSC and other feed stores. Good luck...
