I bought 5 chicks at my feedstore on May 1st. They had just arrived from either Ideal or Redwing, I was told. The chick in question was sold to me as a "Buff." Stupidly, rather than asking, "a buff what?" I said, "a Buff Orpington?" so of course they said yes. I've had my doubts from that first day on, because the feathers were coming in rather white, though the legs are pinkish and the comb is single. Now it's got new feathers coming in that suggest some sort of lacing, and suddenly, blackish feathers are popping out... whatever it is, I doubt it's a buff anything! It's also supposed to be a pullet, but we'll see. It isn't crucial to know, it's just been driving me CRAZY

I find myself spending late nights online trying to find a matching chick picture... thus far, no luck. Any ideas??

Hmmm... cornish rock, eh? I suppose anything is possible at this point... except buff, of course

It's certainly the most friendly of the lot, it seems to think it's a little land parrot, taking any opportunity to climb up my arm toward my shoulder. I've heard that those sneaky little birds bred to be eaten like to try to avoid the dinner table by endearing themselves to the humans... Thanks for the suggestion, I hadn't considered it since I was told all were supposed to be pullets at the feedstore.
I hope it isn't one... if it is, I've been feeding it all wrong - just as if it's a normal egg-laying breed.

Yep, that's my arab gelding. Thanks for the complement on my boy, I've had him for a little longer than 9 of his 10 years
