Today I let my flock out of the run to play in the yard. They love eating the grapes and apple's that have fallen from the tree. They usually only focus on foraging for bugs. Today one road island red decided she wanted in the house. She kept going through the dog door to get into the garage and then went up the steps and through the dog door to get into the house. I chased her out of there several times. She wouldn't give up so I blocked the dog door. Then she went around to the deck and started pecking at the screen to the door. Everytime we opened the screen to go in or out she would try her best to force her way in. After many failed attempts and being shooed of the deck repeatedly she tried another tactic. She would hide behind the hot tub on the deck and every time we opened the screen door she would rush the door. I finally put them back in the run. She never made it all the way into the house but it wasn't from lack of trying!! e chickens have never been in the house or garage before except for the first four weeks of their lives in a box in the house. She is a six month old who has never tried this before.
