Lately, some of our eggs have contained these spots (shown in picture below). What are they??? Anyone know? We haven't changed anything about the chickens' food or habitat. Hmmmm...any help appreciated!

Our girls have those in their eggs as well. Some folks call them "meat spots". Google it and see what comes up. I usually pick them out...just because. Maybe someone else has more insight but as far as I know, the spots are harmless.

Yep, pretty much what the other folks posting have said; meat and blood spots. Nothing to worry about. We see those in our eggs from time to time for no rhyme nor reason. We don't pick them out. Just cook them up/use them however you usually would.

Thanks for your help, chicken friends! I don't know how I'd answer all my beginner questions without you!

those are called meat spots. they're usually just a little piece of the reproductive tract that has shed off while the egg is passing down before it gets the shell. blood spots are made the same way, a little blood gets into the egg before the shell is put on. nothing to worry about-usually quite common in young and old birds. young birds because their bodies are trying to figure out what to do, while the older birds are essentially "wearing out".
