What is this Crazy Chick?

Well that would be a mutt...lol an easter egger is when you mix a bird with araucana in them with some other breed. So while they are mutts it is odd because no matter what other breed you use the resulting chickens will usually have a beard and green skin.
Now often times people mix an easter egger with something else again and you start to lose those characteristics. So easter Eggers are more a specialized mutt.
I have a bunch of salmon faverolle mixes myself though, and I think I'll start calling them cute eggers. Because no matter what you breed with a faverolle the offspring are always cute. Lol

Well, the Legbar came from Araucana didn't they? My roo fathers blue egg laying girls and his sister lays blue eggs....so wouldn't his crossbred offspring be EEs? The two boys I mentioned have muffs and very pale green legs too! Here's one of them, they are five weeks old...

And this is daddy....

I don't think that's an EE, it looks more like a mixed breed!

Please correct me if I'm wrong as we do not use the term 'Easter Egger' over here in the UK but isn't an EE a term used for any Araucana/Ameraucauna mix that lays a coloured egg? The egg thereby resembling an Easter Egg? Therefore by its very definition aren't all EEs mixed breed?

You are correct! I misspoke! :)

Wow ok. It all makes sense now. Lol. So yes I guess any legbar mixed chick would be an easter egger technically. All I know for sure is I want some legbars more than I've ever wanted any other breed of chicken. I want I want I want. I would trade my whole flock for a quartet of legbars.

Really? My cockerel is stunningly beautiful and very passive but generally, I have found them to be quite flighty and slow to tame. His father was down right evil and I had no choice but to send him to the pie man after sustaining permanent scarring to my leg, hip and stomach following his 'protection' of the girls.

The legbars are very pretty but the least favourite of my flock for temperament. Give me my big, blousy, daft Orps any day....they are beautiful AND cuddly....
