What is this egg?

Found this egg on a walk. I have no idea what it is. I live in the UK.

I candled it and it's either: infertile, really new or really old

Chicken egg? I think duck eggs are larger...but I never owned ducks so...

was it just in the open? Did you do a float test?

Yes it was in the fields where i walk my dog.
I don't know if it's fertile or not since it looks empty when I candled it but maybe it was newly laid and didn't have time to develop

I think it’s duck. Fertile eggs don’t start developing until you incubate.
