Welcome aboard!
I think maybe part of the misunderstanding was comparing chicken bands to pigeon bands?
The pigeon band that would allow the return of a pigeon across thousands of miles is a uniquely coded, sealed band that can only be applied to a very young pigeon.
The bands I've seen for chickens have all been different, and are intended to be applied to an adult bird, and except for a very small number of cases simply have a number. You can get a custom bands with your phone number, which would allow return of a bird from a distance.
When I read the question about fighting, cut spurs, and bands, I pictured the poster being familiar with pigeon bands. And then not understanding how a band can be placed on an adult bird over spurs. Placing a pigeon identification style band on an adult bird, particularly with spurs, couldn't be done.
I find the raising of games to be fascinating, and I look forward to hearing more about yours! They are beautiful birds!
