What is this hen?

Can anyone tell me what this hen is, I'm at the auction and she's in a small cage so it's hard to tell. She has blue on the side of her face.

She looks to be some kind of Welsummer X, the blue face and black comb screams Silkie . She looks to have some silkie in her with that poof on top. I'm assuming it's a crest as it looks to poke out of the top of the cage.

It depends on which genes are dominant, it looks to be about 50/50. She has attributes of a Welsummer and a silkie apparent in looks. Welsummers tend to be nice layers, but Silkies are not,but on the other hand Silkies tend to be very broody. Worst case if she doesn't lay well she may make a great surrogate mother for you.

My first guess would be silkie x cochin.

Yes, she probably won't lay many eggs but she will most likely be a great broody hen.

Of course this is just speculation. Rebrascora brings up a good point on the Cochin X thought. What do her legs look like?

Looks like a Silkie mix to me. That means she probably wouldn't lay many eggs, but would probably go broody often and make a good mother.
