What is this in her mouth?

You had respiratory illness within your flock at the end of March, did that resolve completely? The vet gave you meds, what were they?

Was there a bad odor?

She has crusts around the eyes as well, so I would make an assumption based solely on the photo that she also had an eye infection?
The material inside the beak could be mucous or lesions from whatever respiratory disease you are dealing with.

Fowl Pox, which is a Virus is possible, but I think you would have noticed lesions on the outside of the beak and comb. The eye crusts don't look quite like Fowl Pox. There is no odor with Fowl Pox.

Thrush (Candidiasis) is a yeast/fungal infection, you may have detected a sour or yeasty smell, but normally there's no eye crusts that accompany Thrush unless there's secondary infection.

Canker (Trichomonosis) is caused by a protozoa, it's not a virus, but it is highly contagious.

The very best way to know what you are dealing with is to refrigerate the body and send it to your state lab for testing. Once you get more info, then you will know how to treat.

Oh man - I thought canker was viral. Thank you for setting me straight!

So is pox protazoa, too? I thought pox was viral, or is that only dry pox? I don't want to misinform people.

Hey yes i did have a respiratory issue a couple months back but she got better and has had no other issues. We gave her the shots the vet gave to us and she got better but then I had a dog come in my run an kill her and another hen sadly😢 also my picture isn’t great but the stuff around her eye was sand granules from the coop from the way she was laying on her side. They have hydro hen in one water and the other is regular water. So should I go and get rooster booster to help build a better immune system for them? Also I have Vetrx should I start adding that to their water to? I’m sorry for all the questions but I’m all worried something is going around and I don’t want it to kill the rest of my ladies.

You need to look inside the beak's of your other chickens. If you see lesions inside the beaks, then have your vet do a culture to figure out what it is. If there's a bad odor, then it's likely canker.

So when the cankers appear with fowl pox, is it a secondary protazoa infection? Because the lesions in the throat appear with pox. Sorry if I am missing something obvious.
I think the confusion lies with the interchange of terms "lesions" and "canker".

Trichomonosis is Canker. It's caused by protozoa.

Fowl Pox, whether Wet (Diphtheritic form) or Dry Form is caused by a virus. With wet form, lesions can form inside the beak and mucous membranes, the lesions are still caused by the virus it does not change to protozoa.

Got it! I really appreciate it, and I'm glad you corrected me for the OP's sake. Much, much thanks!

It can get confusing.
I've been known to say "canker lesions" or fowl pox lesions, etc.

Thrush, Canker, Respiratory Disease, Fowl Pox and other infections/conditions...can cause "lesions" inside the beak to appear. Depending on symptoms, odor, description, etc. that's where you may come to a conclusion of one over another. Of course getting a culture through a vet is always best, but a lot of vets simply do not see poultry or it's cost prohibitive.
