So I had my first Gosling hatch today. It is day 29 of incubation. The breed is a Chinese White Goose. What is this? It hatched out and there was a little blood around the area. I put flour on it to stop any bleeding and then cleaned it and put anti- bacterial ointment on it. Will this Gosling be ok? The Gosling is very loud and not in distress. Is there anything else I can do?

It's just a rough unhealed navel. I have some of my chicks hatch that way sometimes. Just keep it clean and dry and don't let any other babies peck at it and it'll be fine. Good job with the ointment.

Thank you. I put a bandage over the navel with ointment. That's just to keep him/ her from injuring it more. The bandage will only be temporary. When the chick is stronger I'll take the bandage off and access it. My hopes are still high for a healthy Gosling!
