So I've partially mentioned this before in a different post, but I thought posting about it again will be fine. I am so sorry I can't do my own research but I just have no idea what this color morph could be called.

I wanted to know so that I could search for another like him easier. I saw a few similar looking one lately but nobody mentioned the markings. Would be even better if anyone have a clue what his breed could be. Just found out today after two years his hens were blue copper marans(cross?)

I am a very sentimental person and yes, I want another rooster and hens(acquired already)that looks like my first chickens.

He is a mix, and a very handsome one at that. He would genetically be a gold duck wing. He's got one gold gene and one silver gene which together create that lighter lemon color. I've always wanted a lemon rooster, so I'm jealous!

He' a mixed breed with mixed color genetics. You won't find any pure breed with that coloring, but if you checked on Craigslist you might find a mixed breed rooster with similar coloring.
I see, welp. I had seen some similar but not for sale sadly, so I believed it was possibly a breed. Good to know! Thanks.

This is the answer I’m looking for lol, what that coloring called. Thanks.

Yes. He’s pretty ain’t he? He was bought as a live meat bird by a family’s friend. We were supposed to butcher him but I wanted to keep him lmao. Used to be super aggressive, kicked me more than three times and scarred me. It was my first chicken and a rooster so to be fair I didn’t know how to NOT um... being in his space?

After the same friend bought for me 4 hens I wanted to cull him so bad lmao. He wasn’t a good rooster, overbred and hurt his hens too much and didn’t protect them at all, but family convinced me to keep him. Ironically, all of his hens ended up dead, 1 to predator, 3 to illness. He persevere, and more importantly mellowed out, so I think he earned his life 😂 by just being handsome 🤦

I’ll be looking for the female version of “gold duck wing”, then. After two years and a house move, I think I have space to raise his chicks. He survived a lot and still healthy while molting and surrounded by a flock infected with coryza. That genes must be stronks 👀

EDIT: Nevermind hens can’t be both gold and silver lmao. I’ll just not think about acquiring more hens then(like I should)

So um. He was misidentified here. Now I know Golden is actually a golden BIRCHEN. Not a duckwing. You can tell by his chest marking, it’s the signature pattern of male’s birchen. Honestly lots of genes make males that look almost the same.

All I know is I like that birchen chest and I am very glad now I know the term to find them.
