what is this , some kind of algae?

it’s mostly in areas where i put down diatomaceous earth to kill some fleas. but there are also other places I use the DE that doesn’t have this green stuff perhaps because it’s not in the sun very much. ? It’s more of a shady spot . so therefore could this be a combination of sunshine and DE creating this? and it killed grass? I thought the grass was dying because my dog runs out and pees

in this area, but I wonder if that could also cause this green stuff.

It looks like some sort of mold? I am honestly very unsure but it is certainly interesting looking.

Mix up a water/bleach solution and spray it. If it's mold or fungus, the bleachwater should take care of it.

i’m thinking it’s algae. my geese walk over it to get from here to there- i wonder if it’s safe - will bleach hurt their feet? maybe I’ll try spraying one little spot to see what happens.. i think i need to stab holes in it , to aerate the soil- it’s very compacted , a pathway area

If it's algae, scrape it off. Then turn the soil to expose it to sunlight.
