What is this strange bumpiness on my BC Maran pullet's eggs?

I've seen it but not to that extent. Sometimes pencil eraser sized accumulations. It has to do with the excretion of the calcium, I've wondered if sometimes the birds get spasms or something while building those first eggs and causing the twisted, wrinkly, bumpy, and otherwise "artistic" eggs. And with the shell-less eggs that come once in a while, maybe it's a hiccup that just speeds it right past the shell glands :)

Just fanciful thinking. I appreciate the handmade quality of unique eggs.
