Hi there, this is my first time hatching chicks, can someone tell me if I need to worry about this transparent 'stuff' that is stubbornly sticking to the back of one of my littles? Last night I tried brushing it with a soft moist toothbrush, this morning tried again this time ran some lukewarm water over it for a minute (then a gentle blow-dry). It looks exactly the same, nothing has made even a little bit of a difference. What is this stuff and will it become a problem? (chick is now 30hrs old)

Thanks for any insight!

Oh it will be fine. This happens to my chicks sometimes when they hatch and dry out. It is just some of the egg 'liquid' that was on the back of your chick and dried. I don't know what part of the egg or what I should call it.

Oh, phew. Thank you. None of the others have it, I worried that they would start pecking at him/her or something. I figure it is 'egg goo' but am surprised at how stubbornly it is sticking on there like concrete! Thanks for putting my mind at ease!
