Hi Everyone,

My Easter Egger has had this whitish stuff on her head for a few days now. I've attached pictures below. She does not like people that much, so I won't be able to pick her up unless off the roost at night. Does anyone know what this is? Sorry the pictures aren't the best. It doesn't really look like feathers growing in to me, maybe it's some sort of dust? I really have no idea.

Thank you for your help!

Pictures aren't close enough to tell. If she's sleeping under a roost, maybe got pooped on and it's dried droppings. Could be dirt. Could be pin feathers. I would get her off the roost, take a closer look, see if it will clean off. See if it's pin feathers.

Ok, I will tonight. It looks like fine dust but I will see if I can brush it off.

Looks like feather casings. Our EE has that when she grows in her new feathers, she just can’t reach the top of her head to groom them off like she can the rest of her body. When I cuddle her I usually pinch them gently to break them up while she is sleeping in my arms 😊.
