Hi y'all, I have a hen that I thought was egg bound yesterday. She has been fine up until yesterday doing normal chicken stuff and acting like a healthy hen should. Yesterday she was still on the roost when I went to let all of them out the morning. She is the FIRST out the door. She got down from the roost and hesitantly came out and went to hide and be alone. Not her NORMAL behavior. I found her hiding and she was HUGE!! Her feathers where all poofy and she was HUGE. I kinda knew she was trying to lay and brushed it off. I go back check on her again after 20 minutes and she's still poofy and straining to lay and she standing up while all this is going on. FINALLY she lays and it's not what I thought it was. I have photos attached to this so check them out and give me some feed back on what this is. I have kept her separate from the flock and started her on antibiotics cause I was not certain what to do. She wasn't eating or drinking or acting like a normal chicken until I soaked her in Epsom salts for 45 minutes and gave her some electrolyte water. She perked WAY up after she laid and got some water and the bath. Put her outside in the sun and she napped for a bit and was back to her old self. She's eating and drinking this morning and alert, curious and all around perky. Waddles and comb are BRIGHT red. She's acting like herself. I have pictures of what she laid this morning. Can anyone tell what the world is going on with her? The first 2 pics are from yesterday. The last pic is from this morning. She laid BOTH of those aliens. Any input or advice would be so appreciated!

Do you still have that? If you do, can you cut it open?

If she's perked back up, I would put her back with the flock.

I'm not sure what that is. Could be an intact follicle, but it's in an odd shape.
What antibiotic are you giving? I think I would finish the antibiotic treatment and just keep an eye on her.
It may be inflammation of the oviduct - but really hard to know.

I don't have EITHER of those things. I had some antibiotic left over from her bumble foot. It's SMZ-TMP 40 mg. I have it in her waterer at the moment. She is sorta putting up a fight when being handled, may be a good sign. Thanks for the input and I agree antibiotics at least for a week and maybe another night of solitary. Thank You!😊

The pic attached is her most recent "sorta" poop. Is this puss and should I start doing something different?

Well that's what I was thinking too after research. I'm gonna cross my fingers and hope for the best. Thank you for all the information.
