What is this weird thing?!

Today this very strange thing was on the poop board under the roost where the chickens sleep. I’ve been getting occasional tiny shell-less eggs and this seems like it might be an egg membrane sac but very long and strangely shaped or maybe I’m wrong and it’s a massive worm or.... I dunno. Does this indicate a problem? Should I take some action?

I have 4 nine month old Astralorps. They eat layer feed and have free choice oyster shell.

That appears to be a malformed egg membrane. It looks like one of the tails seen on some odd eggs. I would cut it open and see what is inside.

Ok I cut it open and it’s mostly egg white type goo. There is a thin, pinkish strand of something similar to a vein. So I’m guessing her system half-formed an egg around this strand. Should I be alarmed? Take any action?

If happens again then put more nutrition in your chickens diet mealworms, scrach,etc.

I think it's likely to be a one-time weird thing, and you don't have to change anything.

If you get more like that, then you'll probably want to start looking for other causes.
