What is this?

It is for working leather. Pointy end used to enlarge a hole. Hooked end used to pull a lace through. Used by my Grandfather to repair harness.
Actually, we use that up here in the north to repair our bodies. We are no wimpy southies, we use the point to poke a hole next to where we need a stitch and the hook to pull the binder twine though to tie it,

Barely leaves a scar most the time.

I think I am about as far north as you are. Gosh - are be bonding as northerners and oldies?

I said that is what my Grandfather used it for. Didn't say how I use it.
No no no look at a map eastern Ontario might as well be Tennessee.
 
I think you must be holding your map sideways. We are at the same latitude. I can explain that is you missed that geography lesson.
