What is this?

It’s a little antique file made by Fredrich Dick company, aka F.Dick ...

You unscrew one end and use the other as a handle...

One end is a little smoother, but both are actually really smooth...

I think it’s a jewelers file, but it might by a saw file for sharpening old hand saws

My dad was a butcher all his life and I made my way in the world that way for a bit...

and all of the old butchers had F.Dick butcher steels... long story short I started collecting them...

At this point I have a ridiculous number of them, everyone is a little different...

somewhere along the line I picked up that little file, but I’ve never been able to figure out if it was a jewelers file or saw file
