What is this?

I noticed a black spot on my chicken and at first I thought it was a tick that somehow got on its face. It’s not a tick though and I don’t know what to do. I sprayed some Vetricyn on it and it’s kind of crusty/hard. I noticed her scratching it a couple times too. What should I do?

Looks like a scab from a wound, probably took a peck to the head

I agree it looks like a peck wound. Where is this sweetie in the pecking order? Is she open mouth breathing or did you just happen to catch her with her beak open?
