What is this?

I noticed this yesterday, looks like ears swollen to me. Anyone know what it could be? She is also walking like she is in pain.

Can you get a better closer picture in focus? Is there any scab that might be from a peck or injury on the earlobe? Can you take a QTip andcheck her ear for any drainage or gunk? Bacteria, viruses, and mites can cause ear infections. Sometimes an upper respiratory tract infection can cause swelling around an ear.

I will get a better pic the afternoon when I move her. She just recovered from a leg injury about a month ago. I let her out on the yard a few days ago but she just keeps going back to the recovery pen so I put her back in with the others I have in there. I'm going to put her by herself away from them for now because I have little baby chicks,ducks and turkeys right now.

Sorry I didn't update the pic but the hen was dead my the afternoon. Still have no clue what was wrong.

Sorry for your loss. Was her neck twisted at all? Your or a newby state vet can do a necropsy on her body if you still have it. Ideally, the body needs to be kept cold and taken or shipped to the state lab. Here is a link where to contact them:
