My hatched over 6 hours ago and is having trouble standing and walking can I fix or will it straighten on it’s own

what an ordeal. Whew

i made a circular cut of a cardboard toilet paper tube and then uncurled its toes and used sheer bandaid to attached it down. It's back in the incubator. Should I keep it blocked form other chicks in the brooder until I remove the bands? about 3 then remove the shoes.

I also took out the unhatched eggs. Worried that they would explode and make my little one sick.

It is one of the things about incubating chicks that is not very pleasant

yes it is, but i have 2 that were born a week later one has a very mild case of splay leg the other is perfect. The one with mild case walks runs is able to eat drink just acts like it is stiff at times. It is a week old today

I had a baby chick at about 2 weeks old that all of a sudden couldnt walk. I separated her from the rest of the flock and she didnt get better. Took her to my awesome vet figuring she would have to be put to sleep, he wanted to try me giving her prednisone by dropper for 4 weeks and exercsing her feet, kept her close and where they could all see each other but separate where she would be safe. We ended up going for 5 weeks, one day she was up and running and got out of her area and was with the rest of the flock. That was last year, she just hatched 2 babies this week! she is a little squatty but otherwise happy and the best mama. So dont give up!!!!

that's awesome, however my chick died not only did it have curled toes it would not eat, i tried everything i could except tube feed and that scared me, i thought i would cause more stress on it.

That happens and is sad! Sometimes it is organ failure and other times it is failure to thrive, which is a lot of things that could be wrong.

Here in california we can send in two a day for necropsy when they die to see what the cause of death was. The cost is about $20.00. It would likely not be worth the cost for a hatched chick unless there were a lot of dead chicks
