What is this

Found this in my chickens run. It's under some planks and it's a hole around the size of my fist. We have small mice around, but nothing this size. We haven't had a rat problem for over a year, and I suspect it could be that. We have groundhogs in our area too, but its winter and there probably isn't babies. We live in south east PA so I dont think it's any type of weasel or anything dangerous to the chickens but I want some other opinions to be sure. Any idea what it is?

Weasels eat rats and enter their tunnels to kill them. If the rat tunnels lead into your coop or runs the weasels can enter too.Be sure to close off the tunnel.

It's possible that it's a snake hole, but in winter maybe not so probably some sort of burrowing rodent.
