These were inside a large egg from an approx 4 year old Amberlink. The shell is very thin and though I didn’t touch these they appear hard. Hens have free access to oyster shell, high quality layer feed, clean water etc. In the 4 years I’ve had these hens this is the very first time anything has been “off”.

You can read about blood spots and meat spots here. They are more common than a lot of people realize. It will not hurt you to eat that but it might be hard to get by the YUK! Factor. Blood spots and meat spots are why I suggest we should crack our eggs in a separate dish before we mix them. Any hen can lay an egg with these any time but pullets just starting to lay and older hens seem to do it more often. It does not mean anything is wrong with the hen. It just happens.

I think it's just a meat spot. It's harmless and okay to consume. It's basically just a blood vessel that ruptured when being formed. You may also see blood spots, which are the same, except its on the yolk and not the whites.
Thank you for replying 🤗

Thank you so much for this very informative answer! I give any with blood spots to my dogs because of the Yuck factor. This was the first time these looked hard so wasn’t sure. I’m reading up on all of this now🤗
