What is this?

These reddish little things are all over my compost bed. My chickies went crazy looking for these and ate a lot of these. Any guesses as to these are? It's not baby red worms for sure. It doesn't move. Some sort of bug eggs?

It looks like the chrysalis of some sort of insect that is metamorphosing into an adult. Good protein.

a bug. name it Herald. idk probably a beetle chrysalis

I found out from the first reply. It's a fly pupa, but Herald sounds more friendly
