What is this?

I've never had a peacomb NN so I guess I have gotten lucky :) Those pea combs are a bugger to sex! Mine have all been easy to tell from about 3 weeks old....I just love your NNs..they are so pretty. I have had the great misfortune to have a flock that was infected with Marek's. I have lost all but one of my original NNs...I am devastated :( I have their kids, they are still isolated in my basement...out of 9 hatched I only managed 2 pullets! I can't get rid of the roos..because of Marek's, and I can't kill them either...I've lost 35+ birds in the past year to Marek's and I just can't bring myself to kill a healthy bird just because it is male....

Yeah I have noticed the younger NNs about 2 have the redder crests. I just havent brought myself to accept it LOL. But the other 10 NN seem to be girls. I did name one of the boys charlie :)

So maybe it's a "churkey" ?

yea thats what im thinking. my parents got some from ideal and im waiting to see if they actually get that tall:

This hard-feathered old breed arrived in England from Asia, possibly as early as 1830. It was a very popular fowl in England until it lost favor due to the popularity of the newly introduced Cochins.
BBR Malays were admitted to the APA's Standard in 1883. At present, Black, White, Spangled, and Red Pyle are also recognized, as well as Wheaten females. Cocks should weigh 9 pounds and hens 7.
These birds are very long-legged, and the broad skull and projecting eyebrows give them a sinister expression. Malays have a strawberry comb. The outline of the back, from head to tip of tail, should describe 3 convex curves. They have yellow skin and lay dark brown eggs quite infrequently.
One of the Game Fowl, originally used for cock-fighting, the Malay is quite pugnacious. It is intolerant of other roosters and may attack anyone who goes near it's hens.

THAATS THE CRAZIEST LOOKIN CHICKEN I EVER SAW!!!!!!

The oriental games feather in slow. I have a Thai cockerel that was half bald until he was almost 4 months old. He's just now (at 7 months) starting to get his big boy pointed rooster feathers.

They have hard feathering, which means they have little/no fluff and the feathers are usually shorter too, my malay hens' tails are only about 3 inches long. They usually have bald spots on the keel and elbows, sometimes even the neck, all chickens are bald in these spots if you look, but most breeds have fluff to keep them covered
cochins and orps are some examples of soft feathered birds.

Is the Malay related to the Modern Game? They look similar, although the Malay looks taller. If they have a similar temperament, and you need to find a home for Churkey, maybe some one near you has Modern Game and would want a Malay, if shipping doesn't seem appealing. I know, a bit premature here, but it was just a thought.

Well my hubby and I decided on keeping Churkey. LOL He is starting to grow some shiny feathers already.. Everytime I walk into the pen hes the first one to run to me and walks along beside me. I guess Ill just keep him on as our pet!

This is obviously our first time with game fowls. :) Thanks for all the insight!
