What is too cold for my girls?

your coop looks pretty cold , no insulation. and the top is open and sides.is it straight plywood ? ( meaning no thickness to it? Im sure if it does not get any colder then 30 degrees out if you cover them windows etc. but man this would be to cold for my girls. we have 4 inch walls insulated and windows of glass. and a top vent hood, not an open top. must be warm where you are. here in montana insulation and windows and thicker walls insure the girls will b comfortable. still very cold but doable.

My coop doesn't have insulation, either. And the walls are just plywood. I'm in MN, and it gets down to the -20 to -30's for several days at a time in the winter. No problems there.. I agree that it might be good if you could cover the openings and put in some sort of a top vent, just to prevent drafts but still have ventilation. Other than that, I think your coop will be just fine. I still haven't put the windows in my coop yet, and we had frost several mornings in a row last week.

I live at about 8000 ft in southern colorado, no added heat here either...keep them out of drafts, food and water...deep litter in the coop will help...they will do fine!
