What is up with Frodoe's fro?? * PICS *

this is my 1 year old creasted mallard mix drake Frodoe - he did have a really nice pompom head it was perfectly round and fluffy, but the last few days he looks like he has male pattern baldness going on - I am not a duck expert, but is this normal for this time of year??

should I get him a baseball cap LOL

I feel bad for the poor guy - his pompom is really looking so small - I dont know what is causing it to fall out

I know nothing about ducks besides the wild ones use the fountain for their bathroom... and when it is windy... we get misted in the nasty green water...

Could it be a moult? Or someone picking on him?

I will have to say it is a bad moult job - no -one picks on him - he lives with Ebony his cayuaga (sp) wife. and Afflac the pekin is thier room-mate, and they all get along great. I thought ducks did the whole moult thing in the fall when chickens do.

So ducks moult in spring and chickens moult in fall?

I guess I will get him a baseball cap out of DH's nascar room
