Okay, so I've had some "special eggs" from my Brahma girls, but THIS one takes the cake...

it has a ridge that goes all the way around...

and it's kind of pitted, with discoloration in the "pits"...

It's really STRANGE... Not quite as big as my WHOPPER egg, but it's good size. I just don't understand the ridge. Maybe supposed to be 2 eggs that didn't seperate? I don't get it, I just don't...

Anybody got any ideas?

You know , I would like to know the answer to this as well. We have gotten some eggs in the past that look just like this and I was told by someone it was because they were at the end of the laying cycle , but they still laid after that and still do , it is just every once in a while that we get one of these special eggs. On your's , is the dents in it kind of soft?

I had one this past summer that was similar but the ridge wasn't quite as distinct. The farmer that delivers our feed told us that eggs can get markings like this if the hen is interrupted during the laying process. Don't know if that's the case here, but I thought I'd throw it out there for consideration.
