Hi! My chick is now 7 days old and two days ago I noticed she was flopping and floundering.
Her hips are sticking out to the side and one leg has curled toes. I did not notice anything
wrong with any of them (except pasty butt) till now. I have been searching the internet
and I cannot find anything about why chicks hips would be sticking out to the side?
I know she is in pain, especially when I pick her up so I gave her a tiny bit of crushed baby
aspirin with little sugar water with an eye dropper. I have been searching the internet to
see what I can do to help her. I have treated one of my CC for splayed leg. But this is not
the same. I have been thinking her hips (?) are out of joint, not sure if
it is just the one side but it seems like both. Please give me suggestions if you have seen
this before.

Could the chick have been injured or crushed by the others? Vitamins containing riboflavin (B2) and taping the toes flat in correct position might help. There could be a dislocated hip or some other leg problem, just hard to know.

Can you get some photos of the back of her legs - one shot from behind/her standing if possible.

I'm sorry about this baby.
Hard to tell, but she may be suffering from a leg bone deformity.
She didn't jump from somewhere high did she?

The toes on one foot are crooked, so I would lean toward all her problems being developmental, genetic or problem with incubation - these things are hard to nail down.

Hopefully with the photos we can tell more. If she is in pain and this can't be corrected, then sadly sometimes a chick fails to thrive and needs to be put out of it's misery.

I will try to get pictures from the back and post them. I don't know if she was injured, the girls were with them a while that day, so it is possible one was hurt while I was not there. I plan on treating the crooked toes, I have the tape, but I wanted to treat the hip, wing or tendon problem when I figure that out. I know it should have been treated right away, but I am not sure what is broken that needs fixing.

I took a picture from the back and a short video after trying the hip reset instructions from Eggcessive's post (thank you!) but it didn't seem to help.I am trying to send the video of her erratic movements, which is too large so can't send. It is hard to get her to stand, so this last pic is the best I could get of her backside. It doesnt look good so far :(

If you post your video to youtube or other host, then put the link here, it will be viewable. It may help, it's hard to see through all the chick fluff.

I have tried to attach the video from my youtube, but it won't display unless you sign in? And I am already signed in to youtube?
