We put our eggs in my incubator March 8th-9th. They started hatching yesterday, a few hatched and they were fine, but then one hatched and it had a really small red sack hanging from its butt. I just thought it was its yolk sack and went on. The next day (today) there were long stringy things hanging from its butt, kinda like worms. I called my neighbor who used to be a vet assistent and she said it was probally the chicks intestines and that it is probally it was suffering so we put the chick down :(

Then a chick has been trying to hatch all day, finally tonight this green gunck came out of the egg and I knew the chick was probally not gonna make it. So I cracked its egg so that it might have a small chance to dry off and live. But, now it looks like its intestines are coming out, what is wrong with these two chicks?

Sorry to hear about your problems. It sounds like prolapse and unfortunately there is nothing to do but euthanise the chick. A vet friend told me this is genetic, so chances are any future chicks from that hen will have the same problem.

It happens, but it is awfull. I tried it two weeks ago. I dont think it hangs from the butt, but the naval. Some have saved chickens with tape, glue and other things. But I am not even sure it should be done.
I think chickens with this problem is only minutes or hours away from being ready when this hapens. They just come out a bit too soon. The naval needs to dry in the proces. Do not help chickens out of the egg (unless there has been a hole in the egg at least 24-36 hours) because of the risk of this.
Can anyone confirm this?

It has been trying to hatch for probally 30 hours (as of last night).

Ok. Have you killed the other one with problems? Are there more chickens hatching right now?

Good Luck.

I didn't have to, it died last night. Nope, no more hatched, we cleaned the incubator out because I don't think anymore eggs would have hatched.
