Does she have enough niacin in her diet?Hi everyone, I hope you and your ducks are doing well.
For those who have some experience with ducks, what could be the problem with my duck’s leg she can’t make her leg stand straight as the other legs and she’s limping

I bought a food that’s supposedly for ducks and recently I started to give her vitamins in the water I don’t know if this is enoughDoes she have enough niacin in her diet?
It’s the first time I’m raising a duck so I don’t really have any experience with them I bought the feed from birds’ store they said that it’s for ducks I think she’s 4 months now. Her leg started to be like this from last week. She may need to be hobbled for a while along with some liquid BComplex which is really the best for niacin def. @CoriM is the best at explaining how she hobbled her Pekins. The liquid BComplex can be found at TSC and will say injectable but we give it orally over a small amt of treat to make sure they get full 1 ml dose daily. I’d sure get her started ASAP.
Give us more info
How old is this duck what feed are you using and how long has she been like this?
Can I just give it to her in water ? and thank you so much. You can use that but the liquid B complex for animals is more concentrated and better price since there is more of it. View attachment 3574481
Sometimes even feeding the best food they can still get a niacin deficiency we see it often. Go here and scroll down until you see how to make a hobble. http://www.poultrypedia.com/poultry-podiatry
Thank you so muchI would buy the animal type of vitamin B complex, which you can get at Amazon or a feed store. It says injectable, but you give it orally. I ml every day over food or a treat she likes. I'm surprised that her leg just started being this way last week...make me wonder if it's an injury. Have you checked the bottom of her foot to see if there are any cuts or scabs?
I think you should hobble her and what you need to do that is 1 inch vet wrap, which is a stretchy fabric type tape that sticks to itself, not your duck. You can get it off Amazon, but in the meantime, you can also find the same material in the human first aid section at any pharmacy. You'll want someone to help hold her, supporting her body while you put a little loop of vet wrap around each leg, then cut a bigger piece and use that to go around both of the legs, sticking to those little loops, and pulling the legs into their proper position. Once you've done that, just leave it on her, possibly for several week, depending on her progress. For now keep her food and water close and keep from excess walking, but still give her exercise in the bathtub or a little pool. Just don't make her jump out of a pool or anything that could further stress her legs. When my pekin had splay leg I had to support her body after bathing while she preened because she just wasn't strong enough. You absolutely need the liquid vitamin B complex while you're doing this process, because if it's splay leg she has, her body won't recover until she gets the nutrients she needs.
