Hay guys, so I have a 6-month-old Easter Egger hen and she has been laying every 2-3 days for a few months now. Last week she randomly just stopped laying. At first, I thought that she was egg bound, but we did an Epson salt bath and I gently probed her and there does not seem to be an egg stuck. I checked her over for any kind of lice or mite and found nothing. Her crop is fully emptying every night and she is eating and drinking at a normal rate. She is not showing any signs of sickness. I made sure that my chickens have plenty of room and they have fresh water every day and I deep cleaned their coop 5 days ago. All of the other hens are still laying at the same rate that they were. I have not seen any signs of predators or the hens picking at each other. All in all, everyone seems happy and healthy. I have tried everything I can think of. Do you guys have any idea what might be wrong with her? she hasn't laid an egg in 11 days and at this point, I don't know what to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Many Easter Eggers do not lay as well as production breeds. They have been selected more for egg color than maximum production. The shortening day light period may be impacting her and causing the stop in egg laying.

Hay sourland, thanks for your response. I was thinking about that as a possibility, but I have never had a chicken completely stop laying because of shorter days. I have had them slow down, but never stop. I will definitely keep that option in mind. I would definitely be happy if that was the reason. I just want to make sure that she isn't sick or something. Again thank you for your response!
