What is wrong with my little Barred Rock Pullet??

Could it be possible that she had cocidiosis? I noticed it was said she had lost some of the other ones in the brooder with her. Dont the coci cause stunted growth in the ones that get it and live...or am I thinkin out in left field someweheres???

you could try making up a small amount of water cooked oatmeal, plain yogurt, cooked egg yolk, honey, and regular feed to make it crumbly, not soupy..give her some each day..and her regular feed the rest of the day..
also give poultry vitamins.
give for 5 days.
it won't hurt her..might help.

what all do you feed them?

has she always been this way, or has it developed gradually?
is she eating layer or grower feed?

as to your roo..check the bottom of his foot for any sore or scab..swelling or heat..(Bumblefoot)
or broken toe nail, or any heat or swelling of joints.
if you find northing..give him some of the mix and vitamins also.

It is possible for cocci to stunt growth if a certain bird is more affected than others. Also, a heart defect can stunt the growth, along with malabsorption of nutrients, meaning the birds isn't processing her food properly. From time to time, give her some crumbled cornbread with the most nutritious olive oil (extra virgin), which helps circulation, and active culture yogurt and scrambled eggs. She may just be one of those extra small girls, which occurs in every breed from time to time.

Steff, I will tell you that once, after a bad bout with cocci, mine had pale faces for quite awhile. I believe it's a form of anemia. What I did, some may not agree with, but I boiled chicken livers and gave them chopped liver for a couple of weeks. They had much better color after that, from all the iron and nutrients in the liver. Just buy a bunch of livers, even beef liver may do it, boil them up, chop them and feed in oatmeal or yogurt or whatever they'll eat.

****I was thinking you had treated these for cocci previously. They seem just pale, which does happen if they have had it for a while. If it isnt cocci causing the pale faces, I have no idea what it could be,, maybe lice/mites causing anemia, maybe worms? No idea. Have you had a test for Mareks or anything else? I am fresh out of ideas here. Wish some of our resident vets would help out here.
