What is wrong with my rooster

If you are certain the rooster did that... if it were me, I'd get rid of him. Have you seen how many spare roosters there are in the world? There are lots and lots and lots of super nice roosters out there just begging for a good home. If it were me, I'd put that rooster in his place: a pot with carrots and potatoes. Then I'd check around and get a nice rooster that did not harm the hens.

In the Unanswered Threads there are a ZILLION people looking for new homes for roosters-and most, almost all, are free to a good home. I'm sure you could find a pretty one that would be much kinder to the hens.

Candy442: the only reason why I was asking about if chicks would have the same behavior problem is because he is such a beautiful bird that I wanted to breed him. But I won't if it does
No the chicks dont necessarily inherit bad behaviors. So if you hatched some eggs from him the chicks should all have their own personalities. Good luck

OP stated that the cockerel had previously banished this hen from the coop. Am I understanding this correctly? It's possible that he detected an un-diagnosed medical problem with this hen.

More info about her: How did she look before this fowl (pun intended) treatment? How did she act? Was she laying, eating normally? What was her placement in the pecking order? How old is she? If she was just a run of the mill hen, didn't appear to have any issues, I'd be inviting this cockerel to be the guest of honor at my next barbecue. And I'd be planning that bbq real soon. In the mean time, I'd keep him in jail.
