In America. Your standard is different from that of UK Australia and elsewhere where Araucana has beard and muff and tail but not tufts.Araucana don't have a beard or muffs. They have tufts, which is a very different trait
I don't believe in breed-level personalities, but fwiw my Araucana has been the matriarch of the flock for most of her 8+ years, despite being the smallest hen in the flock. She has attitude. She also stands at the back door shouting for mealworms when she feels the need (older birds need more protein), and marches in when I open it for her. So, she's confident and courageous. She also plays mum to any juvenile in need of a bit of protection or TLC through their sometimes difficult 'mum's left me' phase. So, she's a rock to the flock, and they know it.what personalities you all see in your Araucanas
Yes, she lays blue eggs. She is also is very dominant and very much a lookout bird. She almost acts like a rooster. She is also very stout in her body and feels like a kroger rotisserie chicken (but bigger) covered in feathers in my arms.I don't believe in breed-level personalities, but fwiw my Araucana has been the matriarch of the flock for most of her 8+ years, despite being the smallest hen in the flock. Also fwiw, your bird is very pretty but is not a standard Araucana on any standard known to me. However, if she lays blue eggs, she probably has some in her ancestry. Not having tufts is a positive imo, since it's a lethal gene.
Op is from Kentucky. So the other standards don't applyIn America. Your standard is different from that of UK Australia and elsewhere where Araucana has beard and muff and tail but not tufts.
that is beard and muffs. Tufts are by the ears, and come out the sides of the head. Are those muffs, tufts, beard? All 3?
indeed, but there are other standard birds in the US even if they don't appear in poultry shows for prizes. The classic easter egger look appears to be based on the UK standard Araucana, for example (muffs, beard, tail, no tufts).the other standards don't apply
The classic Easter Egger look is also very similar to an ameraucana (I believe the British araucana has a crest?).indeed, but there are other standard birds in the US even if they don't appear in poultry shows for prizes.
