What is your experience with Meyer Hatchery?

I am checking out my options. We are hoping to purchase a Faverolle roo. Has anyone had any experiences with Meyer Hatchery? How were the colors of their chicks? Any good or bad experiences. I hate how hatcheries don't have any pictures of their actual birds. I don't plan to show my birds or anything but, I do take pride in their quality and how they look. I don't want to buy one and then be disappointed. Thanks, for the help.

Meyer Hatchery, I think it is really cool that you have an account here! Gives more a sense of involvement in the poultry community! I just placed a chick order last night with you folks

I've always had positive experiences with Meyer's Hatchery & highly recommend them - very helpful & nice people & healthy, sturdy stock- my 2 original hens from Meyer's are approaching 3 years of age & still laying nice large eggs -- a large green egg from my EE and a large brown egg from my Marans hen (not as dark as my breeder Marans hen but very acceptable in my opinion). Have an order in with Meyer's now to boost my laying flock.

If this is the case why would you consider buying from a hatchery knowing full well you will be very disappointed in their quality. There is a reason they don't post pic's of their breeds, They don't want you to see what the real breed looks like vs what you get from them.

I live about 40 miles south of Columbus. I did a mapquest of your address from your website and was just wondering if you have a store front for customers just dropping in. I'm not saying I would buy that way but would like to pop in as it is sometimes easier to talk my DW into letting me buy something if she sees it for herself. At any rate thanks for posting to this thread as I did bookmark your website for future reference.

Their website shows a storefront and even a drive up window. I'd still call ahead to be sure they had what I wanted hatched.

Well I am new to owning chickens. All this is very new to me. I have never ordered from a hatchery before and to be honest everything I have heard about Meyer so far on here has been good. I am not getting Chickens for show or breeding. So they don't have to be perfect. I just really want pretty healthy birds. Also the breed I want I am having trouble finding. I know I can get them from the hatchery. You sound pretty against hatcheries. Have you have a bad personal experience with one?

Thanks,
Michelle
