Yes, Delawares are GREAT dual-purpose birds. We currently have several breeds of chicks (including Delawares) and the roos (minus 2 for breeding) will be dinner.

As for my favorite? If it has feathers and nice, I love it! But, we have Salmon Faverolle and Buckeye chicks currently that are moving on up my list. That may change when the mature though.
