What is Your Favorite Breed of Chicken

I like different breeds of chickens for different reasons.

But, my personal favorite breed are Japanese Bantams because...

The get really tame
They are easy to handle and pet
They lay lots of eggs
They are great broody hens and good mothers.
The roosters are beautiful and come in an almost endless variety of colours, and if you cross breed the colours you get some really unusual and nice looking offspring.
The roosters are usually friendly and get along with each other and treat the hens nice.
The tiny fluffy chicks are like cute cotton wool balls.. they look like toys!!!
Small size means the coop can be small and they make a small amount of poop.
The rooters crows are not as loud as larger breed chickens.
They are really hardy.

And one of the best points... they small legs and feet do very little damage to the garden... unlike breeds with normal sized legs which will dig and rup up grass and plants 100 times worse.

My least favorite breed were Silkies. I thought I would love them... but they were just very difficult to care for.. they kept having all kinds of accidents as they can't see well.. like falling into my pond, getting lost, and they were not able to fly up to roost. They feathers got really dirty in wet weather, and they had no defense from predators.. no fear of common sense to get out the way of things like a car or dogs.

Jak your birds are beautiful . Does the breed get along with other breeds of chicken, or do they need to be kept separate?
They are very placid and get alone with other animals and breeds. Just don't put them in a pen with huge chickens or they might get squashed lol.

Their eggs taste really nice.. and are quite big for the birds size.. about 2 of their eggs make one normal chicken sized egg.

i just love my black australorps.. not just because they are beautiful, but i love their personalities.. never the bullies.. always sweet.. i have 3 hens and i find them so interesting..
