Silkies! I plan to get a few other breeds (orpington, americuana, marans, and maybe barred rock) but right now all we have are silkies. They are great with my toddler.

Wyandottes!

The others keep trying to elbow in and failing. My 'dottes are just so much like picky old ladies in fancy dresses that I can't resist them, and they're consistent layers, too.

Orpingtons....followed by Leghorns cuz they're egg-laying machines.

Orpingtons of all colors are my favorite breed. Rocks and cochins are a close second. Of course my FAVORITE individual chicken is a mutt!
