What is your favorite chicken breed and why?

That's a tough one. I think my favorites out of the breeds I've had so far. It would be a split between Cochin bantams and buckeye.

Cochin bantams, since mine were really sweet and messy. I doubt Ducky's feet feathers were ever tidy and neat cause she was like her namesake and trampled in the mud and puddles like a duck. She loved to peck at the door for some yummy pre-roosting blueberries. Stripey sacrificed herself for the others when a hawk attacked. She liked to sit on my knees and be cuddled. Her head feathers were also really messy for some reason.

Buckeye, since mine was very independent, always up for an adventure. Samy would wander and then tell the rest what she found. Like jumping off the deck as babies and always getting in the house.

Sorry this is so long, guess I got a bit carried away typing about my babies.

Thank you so much-I love all the details!
It's hard to pick favorites.
We are getting some in spring.
Decisions, decisions!
