Silver Spangled Hamburgs! they're such stunning, clever, dainty birds! I actually only have crosses, but I adore them and their father was a spectacular looking rooster with some stellar manners. Or the Isbar comes in at a very, very close second. I've got a blue girl who lays the most beautiful green egg...

I ordered 10 chicks of 10 different breeds. 9 of them could care less about me - unless I have food in a bucket. The only hen that shows any interest in me is my ISA Brown. She jumps up on the ledge every morning when I open the coop door. She wants to be petted a time or two, then jumps back down. Sometimes I give her a small treat when she greats me in the morning. Although she is very friendly towards me, she can be more aggressive towards the other hens in the flock. My ISA Brown is also my best egg layer, giving me an XL egg almost every day. For egg production, I don't think you can get a better chicken than an ISA Brown.

Having said that, I do enjoy all my various chicken breeds and my chicken run is very colorful with all those hens running around. On a good egg day, I will have a green egg, a white egg, and a bunch of brown eggs of various shades.
I think they're fine layers but because of their aggresion I will never buy more of them. My production blues lay just as well and actually lay bigger eggs and they are so docile and friendly. One of my ISA browns not only was attacking the other hens but went on a mission to kill the new chicks and started attacking me. She was gone real quick.
