So what is everyone's favorite* quote? I don't have one but thought it would be interesting to see what others have in their repositories.

*favorite youth appropriate one that is.

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. " - Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

This quote, slightly altered, is inscribed on a plaque in the stairwell of the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty.

I love quotes of all kinds and am rather a collector of them. These two come immediately to mind:

“History teaches us that men and nations behave wisely… once they have exhausted all other alternatives.”
- Abba Eban

“A tyranny imposed ‘for the good’ of its victims is the most oppressive. It’s better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty sometimes sleeps, his cupidity can be satiated. But those who torment us ‘for our own good’ will torment us mercilessly and without end, for they do so with the unchallenged approval of their own.” - - C.S. Lewis

Cool thread.

"A man seeking knowledge learns something new every day. A man seeking wisdom forgets something he has learned every day."

I honestly cant remember if it was Lao Tzu or Confucius. I read it in a book awhile back and the quote really stuck out to me. But I have forgotten who said it.

It's really hard for me to narrow down just one, but I'll try.

My boyfriend's favorite:
I am not a hunter! I'm a wildlife population control specialist!

and a few of mine:
I don't suffer from insanity.........I enjoy every minute of it!!!

Be as hard as the world requires you to be, and as soft as the world allows you to be.
-Okinawian Proverb

Some days your the DOG, other days your the Hydrant!

Don't squat with your spurs on!!

If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging!!!

"We who are clay blended by the Master Potter, come from the kiln of Creation in many hues. How can people say one skin is colored, when each has it's own coloration? What should it matter what one bowl is dark and the other is pale, if each is of good design and serves it's purpose well?"
-Jim Pell-Principle Cheif of the North Alabama Cherokee Tribe

I like to collect great quotes too!!!

"I may get killed with my own gun, but he’s gonna have to beat me to death with it, because it’s going to be empty."
