We still have a mouse problem and the rubber mats I put under the feeders to clean up the spillage every night invite the mice to make nests under them - :(

so next step is to get rid of the mats again and introduce spill-proof feeders

only, our birds are thin already and I wanted to make it as easy as possible for them to eat...hm

and they are Guineas - very suspicious of new things

if you use or have ever used a spill-proof feeder, what are/were your experiences?

how did you get the birds to eat from them without starving for a few days until they figure it out?

curious what you learned

The only advice I have on this is from having chickens several years ago...we hung the feeders from above, off the floor about a foot & 1/2. We did the water that way too and didnt have problems with either. So, not a spill proof feeder, but modified so it wouldn't spill that much at all.

Thanks, AlderCreekFarms!

Your birds must be very well behaved :)

ours spill terribly, even from the hanging feeders - they just use their beaks to shovel the stuff out :barnie

Agreed hang everything , my feeder has sections for them to pick from , no digging allowed!!

Also focus on getting rid of the mice they can carry nasty diseases .

Mine would probably be the Feedomatic, Its designed so pests like birds can't get in. It would also be far to heavy for a chicken to tip over or spill. And the oldest food is always eaten first, So no food will go to waste.
