What is your friendliest Chicken? What breed is it?

All three of mine are friendly, but by far the tamest is my Dusty. (Light Brahma)

She's gentle even when she takes food out from between my fingers. She'll sit in my lap and follows me like a dog.
She's our 'lap hen' She's only a pullet and I hope as she ages she stays as friendly.

Oh, additionally she makes the sweetest sounds. No 'Bawk Begawk!' here. She usually makes a low honking type sound. I've actually considered trading in my other 2 birds for more light Brahmas because she is so quiet, but I don't know that she isn't the exception to her breed. LOL. (We are in an HOA and if we get a complaint they must go) She puts up with my children dressing her up and bathing her... I can't imagine the lengths I will go through to keep her in my home.

My friendliest is a Jersey Giant! I also have buffs, red production, barred rock, silver laced wyandotte, and silver laced sussex( which is also the loudest).

my friendliest girl is Henrietta, I rescued her from a better farm just over 16 months ago and the minute i go outside she flies up at me for some snuggles. When all of her friends died and she was a lonely girl i used to bring her in the house and she would nest down next to me and my dog on the sofa. my neighbours were a little startled to see a red hen looking at them from inside my living room window lol.

Birds like shown below are easy to tame and train. In addition they are predictable under a range of conditions.

My tamest of all is a little bantam EE hen. Always comes running to me, and always easy to pick up. Least tame was a golden penciled hamburg hen - flighty, skittish, and aggressive. It's funny, because those two were raised together and received the same treatment as chicks, so the difference is all in their nature.

American Game. Generally they are bred for calm nature for handling but training can greatly enhance tameness. I keep on hand birds that are trained for use like shown in picture. The games take a lot less effort to get to a given level of tameness / trainability. Games are probably among smartest chickens out there.

All of mine are extremely friendly, but my cockerel is always the first to greet me when I come outside now. I won his heart with treats.

What a great thread!

I have six, between 22 and 27 weeks. Here's the breakdown:

1) Neko, the EE - She's so friendly. Follow's be everywhere, doesn't mind being held, loves to stand on my feet (especially when I'm wearing flip flops).
2) Lyle, the White Rock - Oddly... he can't stand to be held or touched, but he loves being close to me. He always runs right up to me, wants treats, but high-tails it when you try to touch him. Even without the treats, he wants to be near you.
3) Nina, the Black Austalorp - She's coming around. She isn't overly friendly, but isn't skittish.
4) Patty, the BO - She's the loner of the flock, but ever since she started laying, she's so docile and sweet.
5) Loretta, the Welsummer - She's a *****, but I love it. She's the mouthiest. Loves to peck/bite. But at the same time, much like the roo, she can't stand to be too far from you. But then she gets close and bites the crap out of your toes!
6) Reba, the RIR - She's just stand-of-ish. She's clearly the bottom of the pecking order, and I think that's all there is to it.
