what it the big appeal of EE or ameraucana over other breeds?

I love mine because they are all unique characters with such quirky personalities. Plus, you can have a whole flock of them and have no two that look exactly alike!

i am wondering the same thing as the OP, because mine has just started laying and is not friendly, nor does she like to forage. she pecks at the chicks, more than anyone else, and she is ALWAYS hanging round the feeder rather than free-ranging. maybe she will change as she ages; i hope so.

also, she looks evil. the single gorgeous, huge, turquoise egg is nice but i'm not sure it is balancing out yet.

I agree, lol. I also like how many different colors they come in. You never know what you are going to get. I have bantam and standards and I just bought more bantams, lol. I can't wait until they lay eggs. Cute, interesting and pretty eggs. Just can't beat them.

Hmm, how to answer that? I would say you have a question that needs to be asked separately according to the two different birds.

Let me start with EE's, personally speaking the attraction for me to an EE is that it's always a surprise. You never really know what kind of bird you will wind up with. Secondly, there is the chance to get a pinkish or purplish egg which is always a unique novelty.

As for Ameraucanas, I chose to raise, breed, and show them because they are a relatively new accepted variety into the APA. The Ameraucana as a breed, for that matter, is still a relatively newly accepted breed. I have the WBS Ameraucanas and most folks that raise, breed, and show them will tell you they are a definite challenge. Still lots of things to be worked on and worked out. That was appealing to me. Besides that, I just love their looks. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and my eye beholds the WBS Ameraucana.

God Bless,

I'm picking up this pair Saterday

We have 13 chickens. Even though they are all pretty tame, out of the 6 different breeds we have (BR, RIR, WLH, barnevelders, BSL, and EE), our EEs are the sweetest and gentlest of the bunch.
