Sounds like a opossum to me. I would set a live trap with the remains of the bird. It has worked well for me in the past whether its a coon or opossum.

We had the same problem last year. After buying a gamecam & setting it up, it turns out we were feeding ALL the local wildlife!

Game came showed us 2 raccoons, 1 possum AND 3 foxes (mama & 2 younguns). Yup, we took care of those problems! I agree, put your chickens up safely at night & set up a gamecam to see what's coming around.
