I'm not familiar with snakes as we only have the safe kind up here, but I can see where you'd suspect that. I don't know of any of the usual predators that would leave marks like that. Plus, most would have hauled her away.So Sorry! But, if it were a poisonous snake, would the wounds not have red striations radiating from them to indicate the spread of poison and infection...?I am very suspicious it could be a dangerous snake. I noticed I didn't have as many eggs the next day.
There's a good thought. I also wondered if it could have been a rat or weasel, as they can't haul off a grown chicken, at least not very far if at all.So Sorry!
