what killed my ducks???

I had 5 ducks when I went to sleep. Woke up to 4 missing and my male buff duck dead with his head ripped off and missing. Also feathers were all over my fence looked like they got pulled through the fence. I live in new york by apple orchards. Could it be a fisher cat?

I might be dead wrong on this but if I remember correctly I think I might have read somewhere that the ripped off head is usually because of a raccoon.
Sorry about you'r ducks....it always sucks to loose a bird(s)!

Depends on time of day but in general, I always suspect raccoons first. Pulling birds through the wire is one of their modus operandi.

It was at night and 5 ducks seems like a lot for a raccoon that's why I thought maybe a fisher. Thank you tho I appreciate it

Raccoons aren't always loners. There can be as many as 10 or more in a family group. It's just really hard to say since everything likes the taste of chicken.
